American Kennel Club Breeder of Merit

Welcome to El Corazon Kennels! We are located about 30 miles west of Houston, Texas. We raise and breed English Cocker Spaniels as a hobby because we enjoy their personalities so much and because they are wonderful little dogs to hunt over. We are not professional trainers and for a number of years my husband would start the dogs and then send them to a professional to finish them out. My husband is now retired and so he is able to train our dogs himself. We have been very fortunate to have two National Champions. Chyknell Megan won the Cocker Championship in England in 2003, we purchased her when she was 18 months old and brought her to the United States where she competed and won the National Cocker Championship being handled by Paul McGagh. We also imported a younger full sister to Megan named Chyknell Red Kite (Midge) and she competed and won the 2006 Cocker National Championship being handled by my husband A.R.

A. R. spends a great deal of time working and training with his dogs. It is quite interesting to see them develop from rambunctious puppies into the talented hunting spaniels that are able to compete in field trials. A.R. was the High Point Amateur Handler for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He has had several dogs be High Point Amateur Dog of the Year (2006, 2008, 2011). We also had a very special dog named Oak Alley Golden Plover (Monty) who became the very first Amateur Champion in 2006.

We have a lot of fun with our dogs and have met and become good friends with people from all over the country who also share the enthusiasm that we have about our cockers. We hope you enjoy the website and the photos of our dogs.
